These Terms of Use describe the use of the Speech Visuals native iOS application and the informational website at speechvisuals.com. By using the app or website, you agree to these terms, subject to applicable law.
1. About Speech Visuals
Speech Visuals is a picture-based augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) support app for iPhone and iPad. It offers built-in picture cards with spoken words, customizable communication boards, and the ability to add personal pictures from the camera or photo library.
Speech Visuals is a communication-support tool. It is not a replacement for professional medical, therapeutic, educational, or emergency services. Do not rely on it for emergency communication.
2. Availability and Access
The current native iOS app does not require an account, sign-in, subscription, or payment. Its core communication features can be used without an internet connection. Some functions depend on your device, its operating system, and permissions.
3. Your Boards and Pictures
Communication boards and custom pictures are stored locally on your device in the current app. You are responsible for choosing pictures and words that you have the right to use, including respecting other people's privacy and intellectual property.
Removing the app, erasing the device, or losing access to the device may result in loss of locally stored boards and pictures. Speech Visuals does not currently provide an online account or cloud-based board recovery service.
4. Camera and Photo Library
Camera and photo-library access is optional and is used when you choose to create personalized communication cards. You can manage applicable permissions in your iPhone or iPad settings. For more information, see our Privacy Policy.
5. Appropriate Use
Use Speech Visuals lawfully and respectfully. When creating or using personalized cards, do not violate another person's privacy, copyright, or other rights. Parents, caregivers, and educators should provide appropriate supervision and support where needed.
6. App and Website Content
The app and website, including their original design, branding, and built-in materials, are provided for their intended communication-support purpose. Except where permitted by applicable law, you may not reproduce or distribute protected app or website content without permission. Content you independently add remains subject to your own rights and responsibilities.
7. No Guarantee of Uninterrupted Operation
We aim to keep Speech Visuals useful and reliable, but cannot guarantee that every feature will work without interruption on every device or operating-system version. The app is provided subject to rights and protections that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
8. Changes to the App or Terms
We may improve, modify, or discontinue features and may update these Terms to reflect changes. The updated date will appear at the top of this page. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice.
